A personal essay and photo story on Bizen yaki, one of Japan’s oldest ceramic traditions.
I spent a month volunteering in a pottery studio in Okayama, photographing the Mori family and their daily rhythm of clay work, wood firing, tools, processes and philosophy behind their craft. The story combines first-person writing, process photography, and portraits to explore how tradition is carried forward through generations, labour, and patience.
